Green Houses and Garden Sheds – Shelter for Plants & Garden Equipment

Green house is a closed place in which plants are grown and is more suited for this purpose than a garden shed might be, but it is what that goes in that matters – Hozelock accessories, gardening gloves or similar gardening goods. It is a structure made up of plastic or a glass roof. Such fabrication of the structure often leads to heating up through incoming solar radiations from the sun. It further leads to the absorption of solar radiations by the plants and soil. Re-radiation of the energy takes place inside the warmed structure. Some heat loss due to conduction is there but along with it net increase in energy is even widespread. Glass is used in the green house because of its transparent nature. The warmed plants and structures inside re-radiate energy to infra-red rays, to which glass is partially opaque in nature. Here artificial conditions are created for proper growth of the plants. The artificial conditions include: humidity, temperature, light intensity, ventilation, photo period, disease control, soil media, Fertigation and irrigation.

Green house can be divided into plastic green house and glass green house and one can select one depending upon the usage and requirement. Glass green houses are commercial in nature and are often used for production of high quality flowers and vegetables. These are filled with equipments like heating, cooling, screening installations and lighting. Plastic green houses on the other hand use PE films and multi wall sheets in PMMA or PC. Here the glass acts as a barrier for the flow of heat. Its effect is realized for trapping heat flow within it, which further heats both ground and the plants.

It can be demonstrated by opening a small window near the roof of a greenhouse: the temperature will drop considerably. Green house gases are: carbon dioxide (9-26%), methane (4-9%), ozone 3-7%) and water vapors (36-70%). Major non gas contributors are clouds; they absorb and emit infrared radiations. For this reason it is seen that a logcabins for example won’t allow you to grow plants in a similar way.

Green house protects the crop from excessive cold or heat. It gives the plants an effective shield from storms and blizzards. An arable land can easily be converted into arable land with the help of temperature and light control. It allows certain crops to be grown throughout the year, thereby increasing the food supply of many countries. World’s largest green house complex is sited in America which covers almost 50,000 acres. Closed environment of the green house has unique requirements as compared to outdoor production. It has ultimately proved that technology can make anything possible with an apt approach of mind.
